Zátěžkávací zkouška transatlantického spojenectví

28.05.2025

The transatlantic cooperation has been a cornerstone of the global order as well as of our security and prosperity for many decades. With Europe’s reluctance to fulfil their share of the collective defence; and with the growing tendency to reduce the U.S. engagements overseas, this cooperation has come under a current stress test.

The tensions around second Trump administration attitude to Europe are not a cause but a result of several long-term processes. Nevertheless, a crisis must not necessarily lead to a catastrophe. On the contrary, it may provide a cathartic moment for the partners and allies on both sides of the Atlantic and open a new chapter in the relationship.

The current situation and future prospects of transatlantic cooperation will be discussed with:

Amb Kelly Craft,  United States Ambassador to the United Nations (2019-2021) and Canada (2017-2019)

Amb Kurt Volker,  United States Ambassador to NATO (2008-2009) and United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations (2017-2019)
